Introduction

While the Master Outline is designed to be a one stop shop, it cannot replace all the materials out there on ATC. Additionally it is not designed to duplicate material already in existence which adequately explains specific concepts. Finally the master outline has been created to include references in order to enhance your knowledge of the materials. The following references will be referenced numerous times in this document.

The ZTL Website

Obviously you are familiar with the basics of this website as you used it to get here. This website has all of the ZTL SOPs and policies, your controller log in, the controller forum, and all the ZTL specific files you will need. Additionally pilot certification is offered through this website along with charts for all ZTL airports.

FAA Order 7110.65

This FAA order can be considered the "ATC bible". It contains all of the rules and regulations for controllers, however it can be hard to read and clumsy to navigate. The master outline can be considered a VATSIM specific version of the 7110.65. This will be the most common reference in this document. This order is updated every 6 months and is available at http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/ATC/INDEX.HTM

Pilot Controller Glossary

The PC/G is the dictionary for pilots and controllers with regards to what a specific word means. It is found at the back of the 7110.65

Virtual Radar Client (VRC) Manual

VRCis the radar client used by ZTL(We do NOT support Euroscope). The manuals are the one stop reference on how to use these clients. VRC is the primary (and recommended) controller software. Its manual is available at http://www.metacraft.com/VRC/documentation.shtml

ASRC is still used, but considered outdated, its manual is no longer available online. This document will assume you are using VRC. ASRC questions should be addressed to the training department. It is highly recommended that new controllers use VRC. ASRC is not "supported" here at vZTL.

Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM)

The AIM is designed as a 1 stop document for basic ATC procedures written primarily for pilots. It is available at http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/aim
